PREVIOUS CHAPTERS: Intro/Part I
The two days came and went in a blur, and it was finally time to do the big interview with my dream guy. I had to admit, I was a bit nervous. I was so nervous that I woke up two hours earlier than when I usually get up, just to pick out what to wear. I had to be subtle yet sexy, chic yet effortless. Being sloppy wasn’t an option. I had to look my best. After I took a hot shower, I went into my closet and literally tried on every single piece of clothing I had. I was tossing shirts, skirts, jeans and dresses all around. In the middle of that, Shan came in and caught a pair of jeans as soon as she entered. “What the hell?” I heard her say. “Paige, what on Earth are you doing? Your room is a mess!” I rushed towards her with two dresses in my hand, one red and one blue. “Okay, which dress, red or blue?” I asked. Shan just looked at me and shook her head, laughing. “Let me guess. You’re doing this for him, aren’t you?” Taking a deep breath, I looked at her and said, “That obvious, huh?”
Shan looked at me with a small laugh. Sitting me down on the bed, she looked at me. “Calm down, girlie. You are being too uptight and nervous,” she said to me. “You’re acting as if you haven’t met a guy before. It’s no big deal.” Looking back at her, I replied, “But this isn’t just some guy. This is a guy that I’ve been a fan of ever since 2005. Back when ‘Just Gotta Make It’ came out. You remember I played the hell out of that CD and the others. I don’t know, but he’s not some guy. He’s my hero, my fantasy, my… Oh my god, I am completely losing it.” I rubbed my temples with my fingers. “What is wrong with me? Seriously.”
Getting up from the bed, Shan began to neaten up my room a bit as she spoke. “Look. I know this means a lot to you, Paige. But believe me when I say that you are stressing for absolutely nothing. He can’t help but to like you. You’re pretty, intelligent, funny, witty, all of that. And if he doesn’t, then he’s an ass and you don’t need him anyway. So all you have to do is be yourself. That’s all.” She stopped momentarily and looked down on my bed. “Hey, why don’t you wear this?” she asked. I looked over to find a black keyhole top with some True Religion skinny jeans. “You know, I can rock that. Put on some Giuseppe boots and add a few accessories, and I’m done.” After thanking Shan, I politely kicked her out of the room and got dressed.
Upon arriving at WEDR, our station manager George gave Shan and me the basics about our interview. “Okay, the main things that need to be discussed are his foundation, his charity concert, upcoming album and his crossover to film. Other than that, just have fun with him, make everything light, and you will be fine.” Running my fingers through my curled hair, I nodded to him. “You know we got you, George,” I said with a smile. When George left, Shan wheeled over to me and smiled. “So today’s the day. I swear, if you don’t get a date or something, I’m slapping the taste out of your mouth,” she joked. Shaking my head, I replied, “I’m good, okay? It’s going to be good, and I’m going to be good. I’m just going to be…”
“Hey, this is the Morning Candy Radio Show, right?”
Looking up from Shan, I saw him. Instantly, I could feel my heart stop for a moment. He was more gorgeous than the pictures I looked at and the shows I’ve watched. His skin was a perfect shade of milk chocolate, his eyes was hypnotizing and his smile was perfect. I was face to face with him, for the very first time. A smile immediately appeared on my face. “Yes, this is Morning Candy,” Shan said to break the ice, getting up from her chair. I got up with her as well as she introduced the both of us. “Hi, I’m Shantel, but you can call me Shan. And this is my partner in crime, Paige.” He looked over to me and smiled, making my heart melt. “It’s nice to finally meet you. I’ve heard so much about you,” he said to me. I shook his hand and looked into those sexy eyes of his. “The pleasure is all mine,” I replied. “I’m a really big fan of yours. Your music is amazing, sir.” Sir? The guy is only two years older than I am, and I call him “sir.” How embarrassing. He chuckled and looked at me. "I don't know about that 'sir' mess. But you can call me Trey. Is that alright with you?" In the back of my mind, I would have liked to say, I would love to call you daddy, but your name is fine for now. Alas, all I said was "Yeah, that is quite alright with me."
From then on, the interview went great. There were laughs, a few call-ins (mainly from his crazy ass fans), and of course the questions that George told us to ask. Somehow during the interview, Shan decided to ask him, “So, I’m sure that the girls would love to know this… What do you like in a woman?” She directly looked at me while she asked that. I seriously wanted to choke her, but kept a straight face. He licked his lips and said in his sexy baritone, “Well, the main thing I want in a woman is someone who is independent. I want someone who doesn’t have to rely on just me to handle things. My lady also has to be understanding of what I do. I don’t want her to just revolve her life around mine. She has to hold her own…that, and she also has to be a good cook.” We all chuckled at that one. That was requirement number one for all guys. If a woman can cook, she’s a keeper. “That’s good, I can’t be mad at that,” I said. “Now, I have to get a bit personal. How important is sex in your relationship?” I was a bit surprised at myself for asking that one. He chuckled at me and looked at me seductively. He said, “It’s very important, but not as important as love. When there’s no love, than the sex is just good. But when love is involved, the sex is amazing. And when I give my love to a woman, trust me…she would definitely know it.” Those words sent shivers down my spine. And the way he looked at me was DEFINITELY something.
And just like that, the interview was over. At the end of the segment, I was alone with him while Shan went to talk to the producer. “Thank you so much for stopping by. We really appreciate it,” I said to him, walking towards the exit. He smiled at me and said, “No problem ma. I had a good time…You know, I’m in town for a while, and I would like to possibly call you sometime. Maybe we can get together for dinner or something.” A big smile appeared on my face, followed by a girly giggle. Alas, I played it cool. “Sure, I don’t see why we can’t exchange numbers,” I replied. We switched cell phones and locked in each other’s numbers. “Alright, cool,” he said. “So I will call you sometime tonight. I promise.” He was then told by his assistant that he had to go. “I’ll talk to you later, sexy.” He gave me a kiss on the cheek and waved bye. I returned the gesture and walked back towards Shan. She looked at me with a curious look on her face. “So? What happened?” she asked. I pulled out my phone and showed her his phone number in my phone. She smiled and nodded in approval. “Smooth, Ms. Paige. Very smooth,” she said. I chuckled and said, “I know, right?” And just like that, not only did I get the number, but I also got a date. This was beginning to look a lot like a perfect day for me. Couldn’t get any better, if I do say so myself.
