    Petersburg's own Trey Songz was back in town last weekend - surprising more than 100 children by paying for their haircuts. Boys got their hair cut and girls received a complimentary wash, blow dry and styling at Razor Sharp on Bollingbrook Street and Unique Design Hair Studio on Crater Road. The kids, all members of the city's Parks & Leisure Services After School Program, did not know who was behind the invite - until the door opened and Songz walked in.

    "Time froze for a second as the young people finally realized that their big weekend surprise was all due to their idol Trey Songz," said Tami Yerby, of Parks and Leisure Services.

    Songz' mother, April Tucker, described what happened next.

    "There was screaming and many hugs, but some kids were shocked," Tucker said. "I even saw one girl cry."

    The bill for the hair care was footed by Songz' new Angels with Hearts foundation, which he recently launched to help underprivileged children.

It is wonderful when you see someone of influence take pride and pleasure when serving others. If you take a look at Trey’s documentary “My Moment”, much is revealed. A talented blessed young man who wants to move beyond just the musical scene but influence those who look up to him – Make a difference. This is My son Mr.Jaylan Gravely getting his hair cut by Trey!!! Trey and his entire crew treated my twins like family. He was completely enamored by the twins and all of the children on the set. I am so thankful for this opportunity. Trey went through ALL of Petersburg and really showed how much of "A Man of the People" he truly is. This made my twins 4th Birthday (10/16) extremely memoriable!! Thank you Trey! Call me lol
