“Trey why you gotta act like that?”
“Look Nikki…I’m not gone do this with you no more…I’m done!”
“But I said I was sorry. I just don’t like how friendly you are.”
“You don’t like shit! If I say hello to someone who speaks to me it’s a problem…if I’m playin around it’s a problem…if I’m hangin wit my boys it’s a problem…what da fuck!”
“I can’t help it if I love you the way I do Trey. You always have girls on ya dick, tryna be in ya face in school, when they know we’re together.”
“They don’t mean shit to me…you never believe me doe…why you wanna stay if you don’t truss me?”
“I wanna trust you…it’s just hard. I feel like you’ve been pulling away from me lately. You leave me every summer and I know it’s for your music, but when you come back…it’s always a change.”
“Look baby…I’m sorry things had to go down like this, but I thinks it’s for the best if we just chill.” Nikki starts crying.
“No! You can’t just end it like this!”
“Nikki please don’t do dat…please baby…this is hard enough.”
“GET OUT TREY!” he stares at her face as the tears continue to run down it making her mascara run. “GET OUT!” pointing to the door…He leaves out of the front door as she wished.
One year later
“Yo shawty can I hollar at chu for a minute?” The young lady turns back around and walks over to Tremaine’s locker. She’s holding her books in her hand staring him in the face.
“How you doin?” Tremaine is scanning over her shapely body.
“I’m fine.”
“Sweetheart what’s ya name?”
“Shanell.”
“I never seen you here before you must be new.”
“I am. I just transferred here for my senior year. Today is my first day.”
“It’s also your lucky day. Look I’ma do you a favor and carry these books….taking them out of her hands…for you to ya class.
“That won’t be necessary…looking to get a name…”
“Tremaine but you can call me Trey.”
“Well Trey…taking the books back…thanks for the offer, but I can carry my books myself. I will however take you up on your offer to walk me to my class. I’m not sure where this room is…” showing him her schedule.
“Oh you got Mrs. Auburn…you goin my way.” walks her down the hall and up the steps to the classroom.
“Thanks for showing me where to go. I guess you better hurry up and get to yours before the bell rings.”
“Baby I’m gud…my class is right across the hall…” nodds head in that direction smiling. Shanell smiles back.
“Well thanks again Trey.”
“You’re welcome baby.” Suddenly Paige walks by Trey and Shanell since they were standing by the classroom doorway.
Mumbles “He at it again…agitated…Move fool!”
“Aye Paige…what I tell you bout dat…watch ya mouth…you can’t be da man all da time.” Shanell didn’t know what to think and just stood there listening to the two of them.
“Kiss my bootylicious black ass Trey!” Then she apologizes to Shanell.
“Sorry you had to hear that…he plucks my nerves.” Then she rolls her eyes at him and walks in the room. Shanell then stared back at Trey.
“I’ll see you later baby.” Then he hurriedly makes his way across the hall.
Once class was over Trey was looking for Shanell but didn’t catch up to her again until he spotted her when he had lunch. He noticed her sitting with Paige. Paige was on the cheerleading squad and also the captain. Trey decided to go over and break up their little conversation they had going on.
“What happened?” Shanell and Paige both looked at Trey wondering what he was talking about, but his focus was on Shanell.
“What do you mean what happened?” she curiously asked.
“I thought I was showing you to ya classes. You don’t need me already?” Paige folded her arms and looked at Trey like he was selling bullshit.
“Oh…I’m sorry. I only meant that one class.”
“Don’t pay him any mind Shanell. What do you want Trey?”
“Not yo ass.” Shanell looks at Trey with her mouth wide open from his response. Then Trey laughs it off and walks behind Paige to hug her. “Nah I’m just playing. How you doin today baby?” Shanell still looked puzzled. Paige sees her face and explains as Trey is still hugging her from behind.
“He’s plays around like this all the time. We have this love hate thing going on. I pays him no mind.” she stressed. Then he lets her go and puts his focus back on Shanell.
“You need a hug too baby?”
“I’m good.”
“You sho? I’ve been told I give the best hugs…you should lemme show you and then you can tell me whatchu think.” Shanell smiles.
“I’ll take your word for it.”
“Yeah ight. I’ll see y’all later.”
“Trey wait!” he looks back to see what Paige wants.
“Is it true that your performing again in the school’s talent show?”
“How you find dat out?”
“Is it? Just tell me because if you are I want to be there.” Then Shanell looked at Trey.
“Perform…as in what?”
“I guess you’ll have to come to the show and find out baby.” Then he walked off. Shanell couldn’t wait to find out so she asked Paige and she told her that Trey sings. She was surprised. She thought to herself, he has good looks and can sing…I better watch him.

Nikki saw Trey talking to Paige and Shanell. She was sitting in the lunchroom with her girls and decided to go and see what was going on with Trey. She caught him as he was at the vending machine.
“So you’re not going to speak to me today? You got time to talk to everyone else.”
“You know it’s not even like dat. I haven’t seen you till now…everythang cool?”
“Everything’s great….sooo you know the new girl already?” Trey puts a handful of skittles in his mouth…chewing
“Yeah I know her.”
“So you tryna talk to her now?” Trey sighs.
“How long we gone do this Nikki?”
“Do what…I can’t wanna know who’s about to take my place.”
“Do yaself a favor baby…leggo…I still love you doe…I’ll talk to you later.” he walks away
“You can’t say that to me Trey and expect me to give up on us…she yells…I’m gonna get you back!”

I just didnt see why he had to be so difficult with her in the first place, but that was their relationship and who was I to change it. As we sat there I noticed Nikki staring at us. Then she intentionally whispers something to one of her girls and then they both start staring at us. Trey noticed my attention wondered.
Whatchu lookin at?
Nothing important. Then he looks over and sees Nikki. She waves to him and smiles. He smiles back half heartedly with a head nod and I knew it was at her. He also waves back. Then he puts his arm back around me and cuddles me. I wasnt gonna let her pettiness get to me. I had things on my mind that actually mattered.

The day had finally arrived and Trey was leaving. I was at his house the whole day before and then came back over to see him off. Him and I were sitting in the living room when his mom walks in the room.
Shanell just because Trey wont be here doesnt mean you still cant come by to see us.
I will Ms. Tucker really that also means a lot. Then she looks at Trey.
Trey you got everything?
Yeah mumma erthang good to go. She put her arms out to get a hug. Trey gets up.
Im gonna miss my baby. Youre gonna be away from me longer this time. Looking at those two made me start tearing up. I was already feeling sad trying to hold back my tears but that moment did it.
Ima miss you too, but dont worry Ill be back to visit and be on phone calls witcha its gone feel like I never left. releasing their embrace

Im so proud of you. I just watched the two of them. Treys relationship with his family was like no other. He truly cherished them and had the utmost respect for his mom. I loved that about him.

Alright Paige. I have to admit as much as they got into it she always held her ground with him. She never folded always knew how to handle him. I know thats why Trey always gave her such a hard time, because he knew she could handle it and honestly he had mad respect for her.

Waiter - I guess that would be her than. I laughed even harder at Trey when the waiter went in on him. He looked at the waiter and said Their goes ya tip too! That made all of us laugh. Nah man Im just jokin witcha buddy. The waiter wiped his forehead with relief and leaned into me and said You better watch out sweetheart, someones out for blood. Then he left our table.
Da fuck he talkin bout Im out for more than that. now looking at me with those bedroom eyes he most certainly was.
We had a nice time at dinner and started spending more time with one another after that day. I wouldnt call myself his girlfriend but was certainly a staple in his life. I wasnt talking to anyone else and neither was he. For the rest of the school year you wouldnt see me without seeing Trey and vice versa. Nikki was still trying her best to gain Treys interest again but her sad attempts didnt work. I guess she called herself trying to make me jealous by being in his face all the time. I knew what the deal was. My faith in Trey was not shook especially by her. Summer time was quickly approaching and so was the last days of the school year. I was starting to get depressed. Trey was preparing a little bit each day to leave for NJ to spend the next year with his mentor and music producer Troy Taylor. He was really excited and I was too, but in the back of my mind I was starting to hurt. We were sitting together in the gym about to have a pep rally and Trey noticed how I was sitting on the bleachers quiet with all this fun and excitement around us. He whispers in my ear.
What I gotta do to get you to smile?
Im sorry baby I lay my head on his shoulder Im just thinking about how much Im going to miss you. Trey holds me and kisses my cheek.

Trey has been after me for several months. Im really shocked by his persistence. I finally gave in and decided to go out on a date with him. I do like him more than he knows, but hes already so popular I get nervous about it. I question do I really want to go there, because he definitely has the potential to break my heart. Even knowing what I know I still made the choice to go out with him. This better be worth it.

We ended up meeting at The Bistro at Market and Grove. Trey was already waiting when I pulled up. He noticed me and started walking over to my car as I got out.

Months later
I cant believe I actually agreed to go on a date with Trey. Im so nervous about it. Dont get me wrong, Ive wanted to go out with him, but I just had to be sure. He is so damn fine its unreal. I never thought I would date a guy with braids, thats never been my thing. But I dont see any of that, at least not anymore when Im around him. Hes really a great guy. I just cant seem to understand why he wants to date me. Not that Im not a catch because I am. Im just nothing like the girls I see him mess with all the time. Im very quiet. Im not into clubs and cheerleading in school. I dont go out and I dont hang around with a lot of females since Ive been here. Paige is cool but even me and her dont really hang like that. Shes funny and very outgoing. Im just the opposite an introvert and thats the way I like it. I dont have to be with other people in order to do my own thing. Not that I mind being out and doing things with friends because I dont. Im just not one for complications and drama.
I recently discovered that Nikki is Treys ex-girlfriend. Now I know why shes always looking at me the way she does. He told me a little bit about their relationship. I really wasnt interested in all the details anyway . I just needed to know if it was really over. He told me it was, but she was still having some issues with it. That I could tell. All I can do is go by what he tells me and shows me. Im real easy going and simple. I will trust you until you give me a reason not too which he hasnt. I refuse to let Nikki become an issue. I will walk before I let that happen. I dont do to well with conflict. To watch Trey and Paige get into it all the time is enough controversy for me. At first I was caught off guard by it because theyre ALWAYS going at it. Then I realized that, thats theyre way with one another theyre cool like that and thats just how they communicate. He plays around with me a lot too, when hes not flirting.
