Angel Safety

Community

Every day, I am humbled by the community the Angels are building. Right off the bat, we left the "just a fan club" notion behind and have really worked to become a close knit group of women that work every day to support each other and our communities.
A natural part of a caring community is taking care of those that are in need, and meeting others face to face. As I see more and more posts wanting to do one or the other, I thought it would be a good time to remind us of some safety basics.
Do not engage in financial transactions with other Angels
As close as we're all becoming, we still have to keep in mind that we don't really KNOW know each other.
I dissuade Angels against sending money to other Angels to purchase merchandise for each other, for traveling together or collecting money for a group effort. Money = including, but not limited to, cash, checks, credit card transactions or PayPal.
Use precaution when meeting other Angels
    • Before you agree to meet up, make sure you've at least had several interactions with the person(s).
    • Do not go to an initial meeting alone.
    • Schedule your initial meeting for a well trafficked public place.
A fan club is suppose to be a fun way to support a mutually shared artist(s). What we're doing is going above and beyond the traditional "call of duty" but I want to make sure that everybody is safe.
So please... use good judgment when making decisions involving other Angels.
    Thanks,
    -Kay

I agree... great advice. Some like to pull scams off by posing as angels. But so far i havent heard of anyone being scammed.

Great words of advice. Thanks for thinking enough of us to remind us to be cautious. It takes more then just a few conversations and meeting to really know a person. You may click with the person on a twitter, skype, phone calls ex. but until one know that person one on one for awhile always be careful what you share. Money is never a good thing to lend unless you can afford to take that loss if they don't pay you back. I have "friends" that I've known 1/2 my life borrow money and never pay it back. I look at the lost amount as what it cost me to see how true of a "friend" they really were. Thanks again for the reminder!

No, nothing happened to warrant this post. I just want people to be safe. I'd hate for an incident to occur.
