I held on to Trey for dear life. I was so afraid for what could happen to him, but he was holding up very well. He kept telling me that nothing that was happening to him was my fault. He told me that the lawyer said he was going to walk. That made me happy, but he said that the police were dragging their feet on releasing him.
"And I got my man to think about too. They got him in another room. The lawyer is with him right now." Trey said.
Trey and I walked into the hall where everyone else was. Ma asked me if we were ready to go. I told her that I was going to stay with Trey, and he explained the situation.
"Oh, this is ridiculous." Ma shook her head and walked over to the front desk. She asked to speak to the Captain.
"Would you please tell him that Eva DuRay would like to speak with him?" She told the officer behind the desk.
A minute later she was escorted to the Captain's office.
Daddy walked over to me and Trey and said,
"This is why I've always said that your mother is the powerful one in this family." He had a pleased look on his face.
A few minuets passed and then the Captain's door opened. Ma walked out arm in arm with him.
They walked over to us and the Captain shook Daddy's hand. He gave the rest of us nods. Ma introduced all of us. The Captain shook Trey's and Lia's hands and he gave Tiffany a small pat on the shoulder. When he got to CoCo, he gave her a broad smile.
"I would know who you were a mile away. You're your mother's spitting image." He said.
He turned to me. "I used to bounce you on my knee, young lady. Now you're all grown up and as lovely as ever."
I couldn't help smiling back at him. He was so nice.
"What say I letcha all go, if you get your ma to invite me up to that fancy mansion for some of her gumbo?" He winked at me.
"Hey, not the gumbo." Daddy said before I could answer. He gave the Captain a certain look and he, Ma and the Captain all laughed. They made plans to invite the Captain and his wife to dinner.

@Aisha
Thank you for your concern. I'm alright now. My life is hectic as hell at times, but I get through it. I wish I was Essence in real life, then when things get tough, I could go to Trey and he'd make me feel better. :)

"You know good and well that before we left the hotel that you drugged Eric and me. I don't know how you did it, but you know you did it. You're so stupid because they're going to catch you." I said.
"Essence, I didn't drug you. We both took those pills you had in your room. You don't remember telling me that Eric had gotten them for you from his friend out there?" Jasmine looked as innocent as a five year old as she spoke.
Everyone in the room erupted. My parents demanded that she stop lying. I called her a lying bitch, Tiffany jumped up from her chair and CoCo had to hold her back. Jasmine played the role and looked terrified. The officer who had brought us into the room jumped in front of her and ordered us to all calm down. Lia told us all in a gentle voice to calm down. A minute later we were all seated again. Jasmine was crying openly and I was mad as hell.
I had underestimated just how crazy she is, and what's worse, I had fallen right into her trap, yet again.
"We've given you a chance to speak, but now, on behalf of my clients, I'm going to call an end to this. If you have anything else you want to say to my client, I suggest you have your lawyer contact me." Lia slid her contact card across the table to Jasmine. The officer picked it up and handed it to Jasmine.
He asked if any of us were going to proceed with pressing charges. We all said no. The officer told us that we were all free to leave.
"Let it be known that it would be in your best interest to stay away from my clients." Lia said to Jasmine as we all filed out of the room. The officer made Jasmine wait until my family and I had left the room first. I saw the two of them talking before the door closed behind me.
I told myself to forget about Jasmine. I still had Trey to worry about. I walked down the hall to the room CoCo showed me. The door was open and I saw Trey. I walked right over to him and hugged him. He hugged me back and I whispered how sorry I was to him. I kissed him.

Jasmine must think that I'm the stupidest chick in the world. She went on to say that she hadn't left me stranded that night. She said that I had walked away from her so that I could argue with some broad named Debbie. She said that once I started bragging to everyone in the club that Trey is my man, Debbie started saying that he was her man, too.
Jasmine also said that I had turned against her that night. She said that I went in on her about her feelings for Trey. She said that I cursed her out, and pulled her hair.
"I walked away from you so that you could calm down, but you were going off, girl. You and Debbie started fighting, then some guy grabbed you and put you in a car, and then you were gone. I was so scared, I didn't know what to do. I'm sorry Essence. I wish I could have helped you. I was sick for days worrying about you. I'm so glad you're ok. Despite what you think about me, I still care about you. I still see you as my friend." Jasmine even had the nerve to shed a few tears.
Well her performance fell flat on me because she knew full well that I knew that she was lying.
"When all of the commotion was going on that night, why didn't you call someone to help you two?" Lia asked.
"I would have, but I lost my phone that night. I could have dropped it when Essence went off on me." Jasmine replied.
"You say that you saw some guy grab Essence, put her in a car, and drive away with her, and you did nothing to stop him?" Lia leaned forward and looked Jasmine in the eye.
Jasmine didn't even blink as she gave her reply.
"To tell you the truth, we were so messed up that night. We had been drinking, and popping pills before we left the hotel, and a lot of what happened in between is a blur to me, so I didn't know where we were when the guy grabbed her. I didn't know anyone out there, and all of a sudden, I was left all alone."
She was playing the victim. She was sitting there, lying, and changing the whole story around. I told her she was lying.

I didn't see Trey and inwardly I was going crazy. Outwardly, I kept a straight face. I wasn't going to give Jasmine's crazy ass the satisfaction of seeing me break down. She hadn't won yet.
CoCo and Tiffany came out of another room, and CoCo walked with her arm wrapped protectively around Tiff's shoulders. She let go briefly to give me a hug. She pointed to a closed door and told me that Trey was in there. I stared at the door as if I had ex-ray vision.
"Tell him I love him, if you see him before I do." I told her.
CoCo nodded and we all walked to the room where Jasmine was. She was seated at a short, oval table. We all sat down. I sat as far away from her as I could. My parents chose to sit on both sides of Jasmine. I could see that both of them were masking their anger towards her. I imagined them both taking turns kicking her under the table.
The thought of it made me want to laugh, but I held it in. Only a small smile formed on my lips. Jasmine saw the smile and she smiled back at me. She actually seemed to relax a little too.
After we were all seated, Jasmine began to speak.
"I want you to know that I'm not going to press charges against you." Was her opening sentence.
"Nor, against you." Jasmine looked at Tiffany.
Tiffany and I exchanged looks, but we didn't speak. Jasmine continued.
"I believe that what happened earlier is the result of a big misunderstanding. I've seen the news reports about what happened in Chicago, and trust me, I would have felt the same way. I know you think that I did something terrible to you, Essence, but you're wrong. I would never hurt you like that."
"Are you kidding me Jasmine? You recorded what happened that night and put it on the internet!" I wanted to jump over the table and slap the shit out of her for lying. I threw daggers at her with my eyes.
Lia put her hand on my arm to calm me.
"Exactly what do you want to say to my client?" She asked Jasmine.
"I just want to let you know that I feel your pain."

Entry 36 cont'd
I just knew I would be going to jail. I was pretty sure that Jasmine wouldn't miss the opportunity to destroy my life even more than she already had, even if it meant that she would be going to jail too.
Even though I was facing this grim reality, I was still sick with worry for Trey. The charges I was facing were nothing compared to what they wanted to charge Trey with. I begged Ma to go and talk to his lawyer and find out what was being done to Trey. At that point, I didn't care about what could happen to me. If Trey wasn't going home, then neither was I.
Daddy came into the room and asked me how I was feeling. I told him that I was fine, but I needed to know that Trey was alright too. I told him that I felt responsible for Trey being there.
Daddy told me not to blame myself, but he understood my feelings. He told me that he'd make sure that Trey would be alright.
I was told to write down what had happened between Jasmine and me. I wrote down as much of the occurrence as I could remember. Detective Peck took my statement and put it in a file. He asked me if I wanted to press charges against Jasmine. I told him that I wanted to know what Jasmine was going to do. I felt knots form in my stomach. I guess I was just stalling. Of course I was going to press charges against Jasmine. I didn't know what was going on with the case in Chicago, but I knew she wasn't going to get away with this one.
Ma came back into the room. She told me that Trey was cooperating with the police, and that he didn't want me to be upset. I wanted to talk to him, but I was told that I couldn't. At that moment, an officer came into the room and told us that Jasmine wanted to speak with me.
I was skeptical, but curious as hell about what she had to say to me. Lia told me that I didn't have to talk to her, but I said that I wanted to. Maybe she'd say something to incriminate herself.
As we were being led towards the room Jasmine was in, I looked in every open doorway for Trey.

Minutes ticked by like hours. I had refused to talk to the detectives until I found out what was going on with Trey, Tiffany, and everyone else that had been arrested. Detective peck left the room to see what was being done. In the meantime, Ma had gone out to talk to Daddy. She also went to check on Trey.
I was offered water and a snack, but I didn't want anything. I asked Det. Homer if Jasmine had been charged with anything. He told me that so far, he didn't have anything to charge her with. They needed my story to determine what she'd be getting charged with.
"What about what she did to me in Chicago? Now that you have her, can't she be charged for that?" I asked.
Det. Homer told me that he had contacted the Chicago police and he was waiting for a full report from them.
Ma came back into the room and she told me that our lawyer was on her way, and she had also contacted one for Trey, too. I thanked her.
There was a commotion in the hall and I could hear Jasmine yelling about police brutality. She screamed that if they hurt Trey, they'd have to lock her up under the jail.
I wondered what she was trying to pull - the insanity defense? Make them think that she was insane, so they'd be lenient with her?
Finally our lawyer showed up. Her name is Lia Turner. She's been with our family for years. She asked for a moment to speak to Ma and me in private.
When Homer and Peck left the room, I told Lia everything that had happened. She told me that she would handle everything. She also told me that a colleague of hers was in with Trey. She was confident that Trey would walk. She said that as for Tiffany and me, things would go a little different. At that moment, all the police wanted was both sides of the story. Whether we got charged with anything would be up to me and Jasmine. If we both decided to press charges against one another, then we could both be arrested for Assault and Battery. Tiffany would be charged as a minor, and she would probably get off.

Even wit my songs I get major writers block and barely finish any of them although i do have some hot completed ones lol. I have so many unfinished songs. But thank you I'm sure that piece of advice will help me a ton :)

By the time we got to the police station, my stomach was in knots. I was worried about what was going to happen to my little cousin, me, Trey's boys, Kenny, but most of all I was worried about Trey. His career could be at risk.
I wasn't surprised to see the press all around the precinct. The cameras were in our faces before we could even get out of the cars.
Tiffany was crying as she exited the car she was in. Daddy tried to shield her from the cameras and microphones that were shoved in her face. I watched as the policemen walked Trey and his boys into the building. It seemed as if they were walking them in as slow as possible, just so that the press could get as many shots of Trey in handcuffs as they wanted.
Some more of Trey's people were there as well, and they jumped in front of the cameras. Trey's assistant walked beside him. She waved off the reporters.
"No comment." She told them.
Before Trey went into the building, he turned and looked around. Our eyes locked as I got out of the car. He didn't look angry, he looked concerned.
I mouthed the words, 'I'm sorry', to him. He shook his head as if to tell me not to feel bad. He said something to his assistant, and she turned and looked around. When she saw me, she walked over and told me that Trey didn't want me to be upset. He said it wasn't my fault.
I wished I could be right next to him at that moment. He seemed so far away from me.
I didn't see him again when I got inside of the building. They walked me right past Daddy and Tiffany. My parents exchanged looks as they escorted us into an office down a long corridor.
"Where's Trey?" I asked Det. Peck. He shrugged his shoulders and told me that he was probably in a holding cell.
"He doesn't belong in a cell. He didn't do anything." I said.
"He assaulted an officer of the law. He has to get charged for that." Homer said.
In that instant, I decided not to trust those detectives. I didn't see Trey assault anyone. Trey had been assaulted by them.

Aww, @CutTiGurl609 that's the nicest thing to say. I'm going through something, too, so the entries aren't flowing as fast as they should be. To hear you say that I inspired you to write too makes my day better. Even if you never show anyone what you write, just continue, and write from your heart.

GottaLoveTS's picture

dang its getting good i think Essence and Jasmine is going to meet up sooner or later

CutTiGurl609's picture

Awww, no. Trey prolly is feeling the same way. Like its his fault. And those cops..... typical lol

aisha_11's picture
