Trey Songz is enjoying the continued success of "Ready," his third studio album and arguably most successful effort to date. While Songz is quick to admit that "Ready" is not the best of what he has to offer, he is willing to call the album his most definitive and perhaps relatable effort to date.
"It had a lot of life and it's still going as if it's brand new right now, with 'Say Aah' doing amazing and 'Neighbors Know My Name' reacting very fast, and then 'I Invented Sex' and 'LOL ?' before," Songz said in a recent interview. "It's like they're very strong records and they're not just radio records. They're records that embody the person I am as well as the artist I am. I think they're more definitive of who I am [more] than any other album I've had."
Coming a long way from Petersburg, Virginia and his breakthrough single "Gotta Make It," Songz says "Ready" is a result of his growth as an artist and as a man.
"I've grown as an artist. I've been doing this for awhile now. As I've matured, I've learned how to exude that of which I want to be felt. I've learned what my fans want from me and things of that nature."
As previously reported, Trey Songz is working on a follow-up to 'Ready," which could arrive in stores later this year (2010).

The past year has been full of career highs for Trey Songz. His latest album Ready went gold, he landed his first-ever Hot 100 Top 10 single with "Say Aah," and can currently be seen playing arenas nationwide on one of the biggest tours of the year. The R&B crooner checks in with Rap-Up.com from the road to share what he brings to the "BP3" tour, his favorite Jay-Z song, and whether a collaboration with his tourmate is in the cards.
Shawn Carter may be the headliner, but Trey Songz has been pulling in the female fans night after night. "I told Jay, 'I'm there for the ladies. I'm bringing more ladies out to you, Hov,'" Trey laughs. Each brings something different to the table. "Jeezy got the streets and Jay-Z is the blueprint. Simple and plain."
Touring with Jigga has been a dream come true for Trigga, who grew up listening to the rap veteran. "Even before I knew that singing was something that I would be doing as a career, I would listen to Jay-Z all day," he says. "Even though I'm an R&B singer, he's one of my main inspirations, so to be on tour with him years later is surreal and definitely a testament to what hard work and persistence can get you."

Rapper Fabolous and R&B singer Trey Songz will promote "green" awareness to youth as part of the Be Seen Being Green College Music Tour in Miami.
Fabolous and Trey Songz will hit the stage at the James L. Knight Center in April for the green concert, which will be hosted by Homeboy Sandman.
A green themed after party will take place at Mansion nightclub following the concert.
"Becoming more eco-friendly is something we all should be focused on in order to protect our Earth," Fabolous told AllHipHop.com in a statement. "I'm happy If I could inspire even one person to live a greener life."
Throughout the evening, fans will receive green tips and several regional green related contests will be rolled out to students in the Miami-Dade and Broward Counties, to encourage a cleaner, greener life.
The concert is being produced by DreamSharee Edu-Tainment, an educational and entertainment company that produces events featuring celebrities delivering positive message to the youth.
"We are very happy to have Trey Songz sign on to our green movement as he is dominating the R&B scene right now and is very influential in the music community," said Marcus King, VP and DreamSharee Edu-tainment Co-Founder.

Jay-Z finally took up his invitation to the White House, and brought along his tourmate Trey Songz.
While in town for the latest stop on his "BP3" tour at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday (March 3), the hip-hop superstar stopped by the Oval Office for a quick, unscheduled visit with President Obama, according to a White House official.
Jay-Z shared the news with fans during his show, while wishing a White House staffer's child happy birthday, reports The Washington Post. "I don't know where you are, but happy birthday. I just came from the White House. And your pop works there. He said, 'Happy Birthday,'" he announced.
Hov has been invited to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in the past, but his busy schedule didn't allow him to make the visit until now. "I've been invited a couple times, I've just been on the road with this new album," he told Jonathan Ross last month. The President of the United States has said that he is a fan of Jay-Z, who supported his bid for presidency.
Trey Songz also met the Commander-in-Chief and couldn't wait to tell his fans. "Had the honor of meeting Barack Obama today – Surreal – GOD bless The President and his family," he tweeted. "He told me 'Congratulations on all your success, I'm proud of you.'" [Post via Rap-Up.com]

Trey Songz is a busy man. At 26, he just began the nationwide BP3 Tour 2010 opening for Jay-Z, his third album "Ready" was just certified Gold exceeding sales of 500,000, and he just participated in the remake of the classic "We Are The World" benefiting Haitian earthquake relief. During a break on his touring schedule in Dallas, Songz chatted with ESSENCE.com about the messages in his music, what it's like to work with superstars like Jay, Stevie Wonder and Barbra Streisand, and why he's excited about performing at the ESSENCE Music Festival.
ESSENCE.com: Congratulations on going Gold, how do you feel about that?
SONGZ: I am proud. It's an achievement to say the least. It's my third album and it's the first one to go Gold. But I don't want to be stuck in that moment, I want to make sure that I strive to do whatever is next. I am excited that the album is doing very well, you know, but I'm chasing Platinum now.
ESSENCE.com: I hear that for sure, so talk to me about your music. It really resonates in the clubs and particularly with the ladies.
SONGZ: Musically, I want to make good music that people can feel. Music sets a tone like a soundtrack for your life. And, with the music I make, I know that I am making you laugh, making you feel sexy, making you wanna dance, make you wanna make love, whatever it is. I am trying to make good music that people can feel and people can relate to. The ladies just happen to relate to it a little more, and I appreciate that.
