My dad has been in and out the hospital for the past month for various reason. One reason is that he has been diagnosed with Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia. Autoimmune hemolytic anemia is characterized by an abnormal immune system response which leads to the destruction of red blood cells and hence anemia. There are many symptoms. My dad has been experiencing dizziness. This happens when his blood count is low. Because of this he has had to have more than 5 blood transfusions. He had 2 that I know of this week.

Patients with AIHA are usually difficult to crossmatch. My dad has O positive blood. I've always known how important donating blood was. However when someone close to you needs blood and has to wait on it to arrive to the hospital, donating blood becomes even more important.

With that said, I came up with the idea for the St. Louis Angels to do a blood drive. Then I thought it would even better if all the angels from each city (and country if possible) could participate. Of course to pull this off we would need help from some major sponsors such as local raido stations, your city's major sport teams, and etc.

If all of the angels could participate that would be great. What would be even better is if the blood drives in each city could happen on the same day. I'm sure it would be the largest AWH mission to date. Just imagine how proud Trey would be if we could actually make this happen.

This is just a rough idea. Let me know what you think and if you would like to paraticipate.
